The conventional wisdom is that dogs and cats will not let a person clean their teeth, and must be unconscious for the work to be done thoroughly. But this means many owners put off preventive care.
There are other cases where a pet could benefit from a teeth cleaning, but cannot undergo anesthesia. Age and heart murmurs often prevent dental cleanings.
By the time the dental condition must be treated, the treatment is often much more expensive and the case has advanced into chronic periodontal disease and tooth loss.
But common sense would tell you that there must be a way to clean pet teeth that doesn't involve the risk of general anesthesia.
Hounds Tooth Check has been cleaning pet teeth without anesthesia since 2000 using techniques developed over the past 25 years in California.
